Gruppo Il Sole 24 ORE presents 24 ORE NextMed: the first editorial and strategic platform dedicated to the wider Mediterranean region

Gruppo Il Sole 24 ORE positions itself as a leading ecosystem that connects institutions, businesses, capital, and visions along the strategic axis of the broader Mediterranean region, becoming a central hub for economic dialogue between Europe, the Balkans, Africa, and the Gulf countries.
A project in Italian, English, and Arabic aimed at businesses, institutions, associations, universities, and financial institutions.

Trento, May 22, 2026 – 24 ORE NextMed, the new initiative of international significance through which Gruppo Il Sole 24 ORE positions itself as a strategic reference point for all stakeholders operating in the broader Mediterranean economic area, was unveiled today in an exclusive preview to the national and international business community attending the 21st edition of the Festival dell'Economia in Trento. A transnational project, both editorial and strategic, that aims to enhance the competitiveness of countries and businesses through an integrated, multiplatform publishing system that amplifies content, relationships, and impact.

24 ORE NextMed represents a publishing innovation and a tool for projecting economic, communicative, and diplomatic influence in the Mediterranean region. It is capable of fostering dialogue with Europe, serving as a connector in the construction and strengthening of a hub of transnational influence, and addressing challenges related to education, economic growth, and security. The initiative, in fact, views the broader Mediterranean as the central focus of observation and narrative, understood as the natural framework for connectivity between Europe, the Balkans, Africa, and the Gulf States

During the roundtable discussion at the Trento Economics Festival titled “The Mediterranean: Geography of the Future,” featuring Marco Magnani of Luiss Guido Carli University and Marco Minniti, president of the Med-Or Italian Foundation, the leadership of Gruppo Il Sole 24 ORE emphasized that the project stems from the growing centrality of the Euro-Mediterranean area in the new economic, geopolitical, and industrial balances and aims to monitor the strategic dynamics spanning the economy, security, technology, education, and finance, recognizing Italy as the natural point of connection between the different shores of the Mediterranean

In the current landscape marked by the fragmentation of geopolitical balances, regional conflicts, and competition among powers, 24 ORE NextMed emerges as a systemic initiative, a lever of soft power capable of influencing decisions, shaping strategies, and fostering stable relationships between public and private actors. Developed in three languages, Italian, English, and Arabic, 24 ORE NextMed serves as a true manifesto for the Mediterranean, grounded in a deep integration of editorial and strategic dimensions.

Editorial perspective – This represents the first pillar of the project, from which a multi-channel programming schedule takes shape, involving all of the Il Sole 24 ORE Group’s platforms, newspaper, digital, magazines, radio, the Radiocor news agency, television, podcasts, newsletters, and infographics, ensuring continuous, expert coverage of key supply chains across the broader Mediterranean region. The editorial dimension of 24 ORE NextMed will launch in June: starting June 9 with the first ongoing in-depth feature in the daily newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, and throughout the month with a series of multimedia innovations, including a new format for IlSole24Ore TV, a new podcast series on the world of security, and the launch of the online platform in Italian, English, and Arabic.

Strategic perspective The second pillar of the project is the establishment of a permanent observatory, “At the Heart of the Mediterranean – Bahr al-Abyad,” conceived as a permanent forum for dialogue and the development of a shared vision. Aimed at businesses, institutions, universities, foundations, associations, and financial operators, the Observatory was created to foster collaboration, compare perspectives, and contribute to defining a strategic agenda for the future of the Mediterranean through periodic closed-door meetings designed to facilitate a structured process of analyzing geopolitical and economic scenarios, sharing best practices, and identifying common paths for development.

The editorial and strategic perspectives promote a space for advanced professional development and in-depth discussion, featuring highly specialized experts in the fields of geopolitics, security, dual-use technologies, cybersecurity, energy, and strategic finance. In this context, the value of continuous professional development and high-level training becomes central to interpreting complex and rapidly evolving scenarios.

The project also includes the organization of conferences, events, and public forums that bring together institutions, businesses, and stakeholders to discuss key issues in the Euro-Mediterranean region—ranging from security to education, the maritime economy to infrastructure, and finance to investment—thereby helping to shape the public debate. At the same time, in synergy with the Observatory, 24 ORE NextMed, through the Group’s Research Center, supports business intelligence activities by producing thematic reports and comparative analyses on countries and strategic supply chains.

Taken as a whole, 24 ORE NextMed is a long-term strategic initiative designed to transform information into knowledge, relationships, and the ability to build collaborative networks. With 24 ORE NextMed, the Il Sole 24 ORE Group is consolidating its leading role in shaping and building the Mediterranean of the future, supporting the initiative with a dedicated communication strategy.

24 ORE NextMed was founded with the ambition of offering the national and international business community a unique platform for information, analysis, and reporting, capable of supporting strategic decisions in a crucial region such as the broader Mediterranean. In an increasingly interdependent global context, we believe it is essential to provide authoritative tools and expert reports to support businesses and institutions in their growth and internationalization efforts”, said Federico Silvestri, CEO of the Il Sole 24 ORE Group.

The unique value of 24 ORE NextMed lies in its ability to integrate all of the Group’s information channels into a single editorial ecosystem capable of producing in-depth, multimedia content accessible to an international audience. From print to digital, from TV to podcasts and data tools, each platform contributes to building a comprehensive and authoritative narrative of the region’s economic and geopolitical dynamics”, said Fabio Tamburini, editor-in-chief of Il Sole 24 Ore.

In a landscape where the complexity of dynamics is growing exponentially, driving technological and social impacts, the quality of information has become a competitive advantage. The themes of education, economic growth, and security now share a common vocabulary. These three pillars, when analyzed in an interconnected manner, help us understand these phenomena, interpret them, and anticipate their future developments. 24 ORE NextMed was created precisely to offer businesses and institutions reliable insights and concrete tools for in-depth analysis” added Claudio Antonelli, Deputy Editor of 24 ORE NextMed.
